....And I know that I am more than glad that I did!!!

Lately, I have rediscovered why I refused to be associated with my high school: all the shallowness of it all, all the high school things that made high school the way it was. And the way it still is. And the way I think people will always be:

shallow, apathetic and disinterested if it doesn't involve themselves.

People back in that little school in Fairview are typical--very typical. They are the same with every other high school girl/boy in the planet:
  • they listen to whatever is supposed to be in (like whatever MYX has been saturating everyone with) Like My Chemical Romance, Ne-yo, Beyonce, they listen to POP! mostly and think that the more you listen to it the cooler you get,
  • they wear whatever Gozum/SM department stores/their new best friend are wearing, (which is forgiveable since we don't have much choices when it comes to clothes, and hey those are just clothes!)
  • they blog about emo stuf ONLY! read: "he left me", "i am broken and damaged" and "blah, blah, blah choke me with my own vomit and blood because i cut my finger and therefore I am sad",
  • they don't read good books, they like JUDE DEVERAUX/DANIELLE STEELE or whoever the damn will tell them that "True Love exists if only you believe" in the most cliched way possible, etc. (akh, you're done with college but you still think that Paolo Coelho is god, and you don't know who the hell is Pablo Neruda/Haruki Murakami/even Gabriel Garcia-Marquez and wth are they so important in shaping the nation!!
  • they are apathetic to the state of Philippine Politics,
  • they refuse to see that world hunger is a very real condition somewhere in the planet, etc.
Which is arguably understandable if you are 16 or 17--even if you commit all of them. But when you are in college and is working in a call center/a bank/a hospital/etc.etc, and they still haven't updated their reading list, they still don't know the glaring difference between the senate and the congress, they still can't argue anything about the state, and is still too caught up with their lives and still don't know anyone of the following: Jeff Buckley, Zero 7, AIR, Condoleeza Rice, Dick Cheney, Obama, Martin Bautista, and a lot of other people, then yes, i still refuse to understand you or be associated.

...And I
am more than glad that I have outgrown that SCHOOL in Fairview
earlier than I should
!!!
Call me mean or elitist or somebody who generalizes, but hey it's true. And I am more than glad I could never identify with any of them. Because heaven or hell forbid that I go crazy over the next MCR song, or think that Akon is the best gift R&B has ever given to the world, or that emo is the way to go when you are 21 and is struggling to keep relationships.
